CROSS RESIDENCE
return to Architecture

This project features modernist elements integrated with mandated Mediterranean stylistic requirements. Rigorous proportioning and refined detailing harmonize the stylistic diversity. The modernist elements include a dramatic cantilevered slab over the 55-foot lap pool; a flat, concrete eyebrow over the entrance; and unarticulated piers on the front facade that define the stair tower. Judicious use of color defines the exterior planes and surfaces. The interior spaces are open, scaled like an urban townhouse, and expand visually and physically into the outdoor living areas.
